morning (Monday) on behalf of the Tag Meir Forum, demanding that an investigation
be opened against Rabbi Meir Mazuz, one of Israel's most prominent Sephardic
rabbis. On
Saturday night, Rabbi Mazuz gave a lesson in which he addressed the horrific
attack in Neve Ya'akov. "God gave us instruments of war. If they (the
Arabs) start, they should not be left alive on earth. If you can't kill them,
you'll expel them," he exclaimed during the lesson. Moreover,
Rabbi Mazuz quoted Rabbi Kahane: "When a Jew receives a blow from a
Gentile, this Gentile will give him $100, take all his belongings" and
argued that "if they had kept it, who knows, we would have saved a lot
of trouble. But they say no, Kahane is racist, and you shouldn't follow him.
They are beasts of prey, there is no regulation for these human savages, only
to remove them." The

the remarks were exposed, attorney Itay Mak wrote to the Attorney General,
claiming that "Rabbi Mazuz's shocking remarks – especially in light of
his public status and the date they were published – appear to constitute
violations of the Combating Terrorism Law, of identification with a terrorist
organization, in circumstances where there is a real possibility that this
will lead to the commission of a terrorist act or offense, and/or a direct
call to commit an act of terrorism. Based on the content of the publication
and the circumstances in which it was published, there is a real possibility
that it will lead to the commission of an act of terrorism." The
Tag Meir forum claimed that the last remarks were a reminder of "the
wild incitement that preceded the massacre at the Cave of the Patriarchs and
the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, when the law enforcement
authorities used silk gloves on far-right activists and his rabbis." |
