Two of these were the apron ( ephod (see Ex. 28:6 -12) ) and the breastplate ( choshen (see ibid. 28:15-30) ). The breastplate was a doubled-over piece of fabric that rested on the chest of the High Priest , hanging by chains from the shoulder straps of the ephod and fastened by a sash to the waist section of the ephod .
