How does this interact with regular maaser? Does the king take first? Does he take after maaser rishon but before maaser sheni/ani? How does it work in shmitta? Thank you! Josh The Kollel replies: The Radak (Shmuel I 8:15) states that Ma'aser ha'Melech is after Ma'aser ha'Leviyim (Ma'aser Rishon). I would assume that the same is true about Ma'aser Sheni/Ani but I have no source to prove that. In Shemitah, the king, just like everybody else, may take what he wants, so it is probably a moot point in Hilchos Melachim. Perhaps we could ask whether the king is prohibited from taking more Shevi'is fruits than he needs (like everyone else) or if the Din of Ma'aser supercedes th...
