Introduction to Beit Yaakov, Chapter 13

ומימות רשב"י האיר הקב"ה לו, שכל סדר העולמות והספירות וכנויים יוצאים מפסוקי התורה, ואף מה שנזכר בספרא דאדם קדמאה, חזר ונשנה למשה, והכל הוא בתורה.

The Angels and the Stars
The following chapter builds upon the theme of the previous two: that R. Shimon saw God through a clear lens, which led him to receive effluence directly from the Holy One, and not through any intermediaries.
R. Shimon saw and revealed how all the entire creation – both physical and spiritual – can be found in the Torah, and it is through the Torah that God effuses all creation with vitality. Knowing this literally elevates a person above the angels and mazalot – the supernal forces that fix man’s fate in the world. Then, a person receives goodness and blessing directly from God.

וכך הם דברי רבי שמעון אנן אורחא דאורייתא נקטינן, שרבי שמעון פתח וגילה שכל הסודות הם בהתורה. ולו האיר הש"י שמצא בהתורה כל השמות והכנויים והיכלות, וכל סדר השתלשלות העולמות והספירות ושמות הקדושים שיוצאים מפסוקי התורה ושמות המלאכים, כדאיתא בתקוני הזהר (תקון נ"ז דף צא:) שאין שום מלאך שאין לו פסוק כתוב בתורה, כי באלו הברייתות לא נזכר בהם מהתורה, כי לא נתיסדו על פסוקי התורה, לפי ששרש יסודם הוא מקודם מתן תורה. ומימות רבי שמעון האיר הקב"ה שהכל הוא בהתורה. ולכן איתא בזה"ק (אחרי סא.) כל אינון דסלקין בדרגוי לא סלקין אלא לאשלמא עמיה. ואף מה שנזכר בספרא דאדם קדמאה חזר ונשנה למשה בתורה, וכדאיתא בזה"ק (יתרו ע.) אמר רבי שמעון ארימית ידי בצלו למאן דברא עלמא דאע"ג דבהאי קרא גלו קדמאי סתימין עלאין, אית לאסתכלא ולעיינא ברזין דספרא דאדם קדמאה דמתמן אתמשכו ספרא גניזא דשלמה מלכא וכו'. זה ספר לאשגחא ולגלאה תולדות אדם אילנא דגלי תולדות אדם ועביד איבין לאפקא לעלמא, זה ספר למנדע חכמתא סתימא ועמיקא דאתמסר לאדם קדמאה בדיוקנא דבני נשא, חכמתא דא אתמסר לשלמה מלכא וירית לה וכתב בספריה. אוליפנא דמשה אתקשי בדא עד דאתא שכינתא ואוליפת ליה וכו' ותמן אוליף משה חכתמא דא ועייל בגויה וכו'. הרי שהיה זאת בספרא דאדם קדמאה והקב"ה מסרה למשה ונרמז בפרשת ואתה תצוה. וגם נרמז במעשה בראשית ובמעשה מרכבה, כדאיתא בזה"ק (נשא קכב:) ויברא אלהים את האדם בצלמו בצלם אלהים תרין דיוקנין טבין דאינון דכר ונוקבא וכו' ושם (דף קכג.) דכמה דאית דיוקנין טבין על צדיק ומנהיג ליה לכל עובדין טבין לזכאה ליה לעלמא דאתי, כך אית דיוקנא בישא על רישא דחייביא, לאנהגא לון בעובדין בישין דירתין גיהנם וכו' ות"ח בעובדין דבר נש אשתמודע פרצופא דאיהי עליה ובפרצופא דאנפוי הה"ד (ישעיהו ג׳:ט׳) הכרת פניהם ענתה בם, בדויקנא אשתמודע פרצופא דחיה דשריא עליה אם הוא אריה או שור או נשר או אדם מהמרכבה דקוב"ה ושכינתא וכו' או מהמרכבה דארבע יסודין דעלמא וכו' ורא דמלה (בראשית א׳:כ״ד) תוצא הארץ נפש חיה למינה וכו' תא חזי לשית יומי בראשית לכל חד אית ליה פרצופא דההוא דרגא דאנהיג ליה וכו'.

“Anan orcha d’oraita naktinan - We are following the way of the Torah.” This is exactly how Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai said it. Rabbi Shimon revealed how all mysteries are within the Torah. God enlightened him to the knowledge that the Torah contains all Divine names and chambers. The Torah contains the order of the concatenation of the spiritual worlds. All Sefirot, holy names, and names of angels are derived from its verses. It is clearly stated in the Tikunei Zohar (Tikkun 57, page 91b), “every angel has a verse in the Torah.” The mysteries of the pre-Sianitic teachings are not based on the verses of the Torah, for the Torah had not yet been given. From the days of Rabbi Shimon, the Holy One, blessed be He, revealed the knowledge that it is all in the Torah. Therefore it is said in the Zohar (Aharai, 61a), “All who aspire to ascend levels into the realm of mysteries, do so only in order to complete themselves in the knowledge of Rabbi Shimon.” Even that which was taught in the book of Adam HaRishon was again reviewed and taught to Moshe in the Torah. Concerning this, it is written in the Zohar (Yitro, 70a), “Rabbi Shimon said, I raise my hand in prayer to the One who created the world. Even though our forbears revealed great mysteries in this verse, it is well for us to delve deeply into the secrets of the book of Adam HaRishon, for this knowledge found itself in the hidden book of Shlomo HaMelech. This book reveals the secrets of man’s generations. It is a tree which reveals the generations of man and bears the fruits which bring them into the world. This is the book of the knowledge of hidden and profound wisdom, which was delivered to the physical Adam HaRishon. This same wisdom was given to Shlomo HaMelech, who recorded it in a book. We have learned that Moshe has great difficulty learning these matters, until the Shekhina came and taught it to him … Then Moshe learned this wisdom, and internalized it.” From here we see that Adam HaRishon had the book of the knowledge of mysteries, and God later imparted this knowledge to Moshe. This is hinted at in Parshat Tetsave (Shemot, 27:20). It is also hinted at in the realms of Ma’aseh Bereshit (The mystery of Creation) and Ma’aseh Merkava (The mystery of the Chariot). “And God created man in His image, in the image of Elo-him,” These are two good points – which are male and female. (Zohar, Nasso, 122b) Just as there is a good spiritual form on the Tsaddik, which leads him in the proper behavior whereby he merits the world-to-come, so too is there an evil form on the head of the wicked, which leads him in his evil behavior, whereby he inherits hell. Come and see! The actions of man are a testament to that individual’s spiritual form, and is revealed on his face, as it is written (Yeshayahu, 3:9), ‘the form of their faces witnesses against them.’ The form of a man’s face reveals the nature of the angel which accompanies him; whether it is the lion, or the ox, or the eagle, or the man of the chariot of the Holy One, blessed be He, and His Shekhina. … Or perhaps it is from the chariot of the four elements of the earth … This is the secret of (Bereshit, 1), ‘Let the earth bring forth particular species of living creatures. ‘ … Come and see! Each of the six days of creation had a specific spiritual countenance which would lead it. (Zohar, Nasso, 123a)

לכל ממונה יש פסוק בתורה שממנו מקבל, שדרך התורה משפיע לו השי"ת כח.

וכן גם כל ההיכלות והספירות ושמות מלאכים וממונים שנזכרו בכל הבריתות שהיה מקודם מתן תורה, כולם נתנו ונקבעו בתורה בסדר התורה. וכדאיתא בתקוני הזהר (תקון נ"ז דף צא:) לית מלאך דלית ליה עקרא ויסוד בספירן, וכל ספירה אית לה שם ידיע והוי' ידיע וכל שמהן תמן אית לון עקרא ויסודא. והאי כללא נקוט בידך דכל ממנן דלעילא שמהן דלהון תליין בספירן ושמהתהון כל חד אית ליה קרא על שמא דיליה. שכל אחד יש לו פסוק בתורה שממנו מקבל, שדרך התורה משפיע לו הש"י כח. שכל הבריאה נבראה בתורה, ורק שבמתן תורה נגלה איך הכל קבוע בתורה, שבאורייתא ברא קוב"ה כל הבריאה, כדאיתא בזהר הקדוש בכמה מקומות, ולכן מעת שנתנה התורה לישראל הכל נכלל בתורה, וכל למודי ישראל צריכים להיות רק מתורת משה, וכדאיתא בזהר (יתרו פו:) וזאת התורה אשר שם משה אשר שם משה אתה יכול לומר דלא שם משה אי אתה יכול לומר:

So too, all of the heavenly chambers, Sefirot, and names of angels that are mentioned in the teachings that preceded the giving of the Torah were then placed and installed in the verses of the Torah. As it is written in the Tikkunei Zohar (Tikkun 57, page 91b): Every angel has its principle and foundation in the Sefirot. And every Sefirah has a specific name and formulation of the Tetragrammaton associated with it. And each name has there its principle and foundation. Understand the following precept. The name of every angel is rooted in a particular Sefirah, and the name of each angel is based on a corresponding verse in the Torah. Each one receives from a certain verse in the Torah. It is through the Torah that God effuses the angel its energy. This is because the entire creation was done through the Torah. Yet it was only with the giving of the Torah that it was revealed how everything in the creation is fixed in the Torah. The Zohar discusses in many places how God looked into the Torah and created the world. We find that from the very moment that God gave the Torah to Israel, everything was already included in the Torah. This necessitates that all the study of Israel needs to be in the Torah of Moshe, as it is said in the Zohar (Yitro, 86b), “ ‘And this is the Torah that Moshe placed before the children of Israel,’ we speak of the Torah which Moshe placed, and not of a Torah which Moshe did not place.”

קודם מתן תורה, היה כל שפע ההנהגה כפי מערכת הכוכבים והמזלות, אכן כשקבלו התורה, נתעלו ישראל למעלה מן המזלות, ומקבלים מיד השי"ת.

וזה דאיתא בזה"ק (פנחס רטז:) ת"ח כל בריין דעלמא קודם דאתיהיבת אורייתא לישראל הוו תליין במזלא ואפילו בני חיי ומזוני, אבל בתר דאתיהיבת אורייתא לישראל אפיק להון מחיובא דכוכביא ומזלי וכו' ובגין דא כל המשתדל באורייתא בטיל מניה חיובא דכוכביא ומזלי. שקודם מתן תורה היה כל שפע ההנהגה בסדר מסודר, בדרך עילה ועלול, שכל המדרגות קבלו ממה שלמעלה מהם והשפיעו למה שלמטה מהם, עד שהאדם שהוא המקבל האחרון, היה צריך שירד למטה מהכוכבים ומזלות וממילא היה מתנהג כפי מערכת הכוכבים ומזלות ומשטרם והילוכם אם לטוב אם להפך, כל מזל כפי כחו ומערכתו, כן היה משפיע על כל הבריאה. אכן כשקבלו ישראל את התורה, נתעלו למעלה מהכוכבים ומזלות, לפי שנמסר להם התורה שהכל נברא בתורה. וכמו שמרמז בזה"ק (שם) ודא אוליפנא מאברהם בגין דהוו עתידין בנוי לקבלא ה' מאברהם דאיהו חמשה חומשי תורה, דאתמר בה אלה תולדות השמים והארץ בהבראם, בה' בראם, אמר לאברהם בגין האי ה' דאתוסף בשמך השמים תחתך. וכל כוכביא ומזלי דנהירין בה'. וכמו שנדרש במדרש רבה (לך מד) ויוצא אותו החוצה ויאמר הבט נא השמימה שהגביהו הקב"ה למעלה מכיפת הרקיע, ומקבל רק מיד השי"ת הטובה והמלאה:

This is as it is said in the Zohar (Pinchas, 216b), “Before the giving of the Torah to Israel, the entire creation was dependant upon the specific constellation that ruled over it. This was true even concerning children, life, and sustenance. But after the Torah was given to Israel, they were no longer subject to the influence of the stars … For this reason, whosoever is involved in the study of Torah is free of the influence of the stars.” Before the giving of the Torah, all the effluence of God’s Divine conduct came into the world through an organized system of cause and effect. Each level would receive from the level above it, and effuse to the level below. The final recipient of this concatenation of effluence was man. Thus man received God’s effluence by way of the stars and constellations. Whether man received good or the opposite was subject to the nature and governance of his star. This was the way in which the entire creation received its effluence. However, when Israel received the Torah, they were raised above the stars and constellations. This was because they were now in possession of the Torah, and the world was created through the Torah. This is hinted at in the Zohar (ibid): “We learn this from Avraham, since his children would later receive the letter Hei in Avraham’s name, which represents the Five Books of Moses. This was hinted at even in the creation of the world, when it was said, ‘these are the generations of the heavens and the earth as they were created (BeHibaram) , which is the same letters as the phrase, ‘He created them with the letter Hei (beHei - baram). God said to Avraham, since this Hei was added to your name so will the heavens be placed below you. All of the stars and constellations are illuminated by the Hei.” As it is explained in the Midrash Rabbah (Lech, 44), “and He brought him outside and said, ‘look heavenward ‘. (Bereshit, 15:5) This means the God raised Avraham above the dome of the firmament so that all the goodness he receives will come directly from God.”

Five possessions did the Holy Blessed One, set aside as his own in this world, and these are they: The Torah, one possession; Heaven and earth, another possession; Abraham, another possession; Israel, another possession; The Temple, another possession. 1a) The Torah is one possession. From where do we know this? Since it is written, “The Lord possessed (usually translated as ‘created’) me at the beginning of his course, at the first of His works of old” (Proverbs 8:22). 2a) Heaven and earth, another possession. From where do we know this? Since it is said: “Thus said the Lord: The heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool; Where could you build a house for Me, What place could serve as My abode? (Isaiah 66:1) And it says: “How many are the things You have made, O Lord; You have made them all with wisdom; the earth is full of Your possessions” (Psalms 104:24). 3a) Abraham is another possession. From where do we know this? Since it is written: “He blessed him, saying, “Blessed by Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth” (Genesis 15:19). 4a) Israel is another possession. From where do we know this? Since it is written: “Till Your people cross over, O Lord, Till Your people whom You have possessed” (Exodus 15:16). And it says: “As to the holy and mighty ones that are in the land, my whole desire (possession) is in them” (Psalms 16:3). 5a) The Temple is another possession. From where do we know this? Since it is said: “The sanctuary, O lord, which your hands have established” (Exodus 15:17”, And it says: “And He brought them to His holy realm, to the mountain, which His right hand had possessed” (Psalms 78:54).

ten men: from the seventy nations. This equals seven hundred for each corner. For the four corners of the tallith there will be two thousand and eight hundred.		עשרה אנשים: משבעים לשון הרי שבע מאות לכל כנף וכנף הרי לד' כנפי הטלית אלפים ושמונ' מאו':

Please Judah if a righteous gentile tries ‘to grasp your ‘tsi-sit’ and say: "Let me go with you, for I have heard that God is with you." Open your heart for him/her and share all our Torah. The Torah of Moshe Rabbeinu as it is written and spared and is teaches in the Tanach and all scripture of Rabbinical Judaism………
