Question According to Rashi, why does the Israelites’ mutual responsibility begin only upon entering the Land of Israel? Answer It is the Land of Israel that creates the special connection between individual Israelites to the collective Israel and to the fulfillment of Torah. To watch the Torah Lesson, Click Here To view all the Series Lessons, Click Here Series: Ramban on Bereishit perek 48 posuk 22 Presented By: Avrum Leeder      Written by: Yaakov Tessler In Bereishit  perek 48 posuk 22, Yaakov gives Yosef an extra portion in Eretz Yisrael,  The posuk says: "And I have given you one portion (Shechem) over your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow." Questions 1. Why are the Amorites mentioned, if during Yaakov's lifetime, the Chivites ruled in Shechem? 2. What is the meaning of Yaakov fighting with his sword and bow? Answers 1. “Amorite” refers to the nation that Am Yisrael will battle when entering the Land.“ 2. My sword and my bow” has a dual meaning, refering to prayer and supplication and swords and bows, since in war both are needed. To watch the Series Lesson, Click Here Location of the Week Location: Kibbutz Heftziba (West of Beit Shean) Subject: The Beit Alpha ancient synagogue Reference: Sefer Yeshayahu Perek 62 Posuk 4 Written by: David Magence The ancient Beit Alpha synagogue is located within Kibbutz Heftziba. As is often the case, there are actually remains of a number of synagogues built on the same site. The focus is on the 6th century synagogue, which was decorated with mosaic floors. The mosaics include a depiction of Akeidat Yitzchak, and an Aron HaKodesh which is flanked by menorot , lulavim, etrogim and shofarot. The middle section presents the signs of the zodiac, labeled with their Hebrew names. Perhaps surprisingly, the center of the zodiac contains a depiction of Helios, the Greek Sun God. Apparently, by the time the mosaic was made, the pagan origins of Helios had been lost, therefore it was simply an additional design. צפו לכל השיעורים בחומש, לחץ כאן פרשת נצבים מגיש: הרב אלישיב רבהון     כותב: אורי אנגלמן בפרשת נצבים, כתוב בתורה: "וְהַנִּגְלֹת לָנוּ וּלְבָנֵינוּ עַד עוֹלָם". שאלה מדוע לפי רש"י ערבות בין עם ישראל רק מתחיל בארץ ישראל? תשובה ארץ ישראל היא שיוצרת את הקשר המיוחד בין יהודי ליהודי, לכלל ישראל ולהגשמת התורה. צפו בשיעור חומש, לחץ כאן צפו לכל השיעורים בסדרה, לחץ כאן סדרה: רמבן על בראשית פרק מ"ח פסוק כ"ב מגיש: ידידיה סולומן    כותב: יעקב טסלר בבראשית פרק מ"ח פסוק כ"ב, יעקב נותן ליוסף נחלה נוספת בארץ ישראל: "וַאֲנִי נָתַתִּי לְךָ שְׁכֶם אַחַד עַל אַחֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר לָקַחְתִּי מִיַּד הָאֱמֹרִי בְּחַרְבִּי וּבְקַשְׁתִּי:" שאלות א. בתקופת יעקב, העיר שכם הייתה בשליטת החוי ולא בידי האמורי? ב. מה הפירוש שיעקב נלחם בחרבו ובקשתו? תשובות 1. אמורי מתייחס לאומה שעם ישראל ילחם בה בכניסתם לארץ. 2. בחרבי ובקשתי המשמעות כפולה, הכוונה לתפילה ותחנונים וגם למלחמה פיזית, שכן במלחמה יש צורך בשניהם. צפו בשיעור בסדרה, לחץ כאן מיקום בארץ ישראל של השבוע   מיקום: קיבוץ חפציבה (מערבה מבית שאן)          נושא:  בית הכנסת העתיק בית אלפא מקור:ספר ישעיהו פרק ס"ב פסוק ד כותב: דוד מגנצא  בית הכנסת העתיק בית אלפא נמצא בשטח קיבוץ חפציבה. כפי שקורא לא מעט פעמים, למעשה ישנם שרידים של מספר בתי כנסת עתיקים באותו אתר. המוקד הוא בית הכנסת מהמאה הששית לספירת הנוצרים, שנתקשט ברצפות פסיפס. בין הנושאים של הפסיפסים יש תיאור עקידת יצחק, וארון קודש שלידו מנורות לולבים, אתרוגים ושופרות. החלק המרכזי של רצפת הפסיפס מציג את גלגל המזלות, המזוהים על פי שמותיהם העבריים. אולי במפתיע, במרכז גלגל המזלות נמצאת דמותו של הֶליוס, אל השמש היווני. כנראה,  בזמן שבית הכנסת נבנה, שורשיו האליליים של הליוס נשתכחו, והיה זה רק קישוט נוסף.
